At Durham Public Schools Foundation (DPSF), our work is guided by a dedicated Board of Directors comprising Durham natives, DPS parents, former educators, elected officials, and community leaders—all united by a shared belief in the power of public education. Their leadership, perspective, and expertise are critical to advancing our mission and ensuring long-term impact for students across Durham.
We are proud to welcome three new members to our Board of Directors: Dr. Oluwunmi “Olu” Ariyo, Ramsay Ritchie, and Russ Haddad. Each brings a deep commitment to community, a wealth of professional experience, and a passion for expanding opportunity for students.
Dr. Oluwunmi “Olu” Ariyo

Dr. Oluwunmi “Olu” Ariyo has been a dedicated leader in education for nearly two decades, with extensive experience in student success, higher education, and community engagement. She currently serves as Director of High School Partnerships at Durham Technical Community College, where she oversees programs supporting more than 1,300 dually enrolled high school students and leads college-wide recruitment initiatives.
Her work is grounded in a deep understanding of the student experience, from high school through college, and is informed by research focused on mental health in higher education, the first-year college experience, and the academic success of African American male students.
“I am excited to join an organization that has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to meaningful work within the community,” Dr. Ariyo shared. “The impact of this work extends beyond immediate outcomes—it creates lasting, generational change, and I am honored to contribute to that mission.”
Her expertise in college access, student wellbeing, and educational leadership will be invaluable as DPSF continues to strengthen pathways for students across Durham.
“This work is important to me because it brings the entire community together to reimagine public education and build schools where every student has the opportunity to thrive,” she said. “Being part of a mission that expands opportunity, increases access, and supports student success is both inspiring and deeply aligned with my values.”
Ramsay Ritchie

Ramsay Ritchie brings a unique perspective at the intersection of community development, climate equity, and public service. In his role with Elevate, a national nonprofit, he advises municipalities and organizations across the country on funding and implementing climate justice initiatives.
Deeply rooted in Durham, Ramsay is actively engaged in local leadership. He serves as a Planning Commissioner, Vice Chair of the Durham Open Spaces and Trails Commission, and a Hope Valley PTA member. He is also supporting the Durham Chamber of Commerce in developing a workforce housing navigator program.
Ramsay’s experience in systems-level thinking, community planning, and cross-sector collaboration will help strengthen DPSF’s efforts to connect schools, communities, and resources in ways that support students and families.
“Schools are, to me, the foundation of a community built on care, support, and love,” Ritchie said. “Public schools give us the chance to love our community by celebrating, advocating for, and investing in every young person that calls Durham home. It's serious and joyful work, and I'm honored to get to be a part of it as a DPS Foundation Board member.”
Russ Haddad

Russ Haddad brings decades of experience in public service, community engagement, and economic development. As Director of Strategic Partnerships for the NC Craft Brewers Guild, he works to build and strengthen industry ecosystems across the state.
His career has consistently centered on community—from roles in tourism and economic development to service in higher education and nonprofit leadership. Russ has also been a dedicated volunteer in Durham Public Schools and the broader community, including serving as co-chair of the Rotary Club of Durham’s education committee and as board chair of Crayons2Calculators, now a DPSF program.
“For me, being on the DPSF board is about community well-being,” Haddad shared. “As a current volunteer in Durham Public Schools, I see the challenges for students, teachers, and administrators. I am excited to support and strengthen the entire community through this work.”
Russ’s deep commitment to service and his understanding of local needs will help guide DPSF’s work in meaningful and grounded ways.
Looking Ahead
Together, these new board members reflect the kind of leadership DPSF depends on: individuals who understand the complexity of education, are deeply connected to Durham, and are committed to ensuring every student has access to the opportunities they deserve.
As DPSF continues to invest in students, support educators, and strengthen partnerships across the community, we are grateful for the leadership of our Board of Directors and excited for what’s ahead.
