Leandro’s been overturned. Now what?

For decades, North Carolina has failed to fulfill its constitutional promise.
On April 2, the North Carolina Supreme Court, in a 4-3 opinion, decided to upend decades' worth of progress by overturning the Leandro decision. Something our DPS families have spent years advocating for:

Durham, you have long shown up for our public schools. This decision doesn’t change that. If anything, it makes our need to rally around our students, educators, and families ever more urgent.
Here are some actions you can take:
Get involved. Follow local advocacy groups, including Durham Public School Strong, Public School Forum, Every Child NC, and I Am Leandro, for updates and action items.
Advocate. Attend the upcoming Public School Advocacy Day on April 21 (training on April 14)
Sustain Durham-rooted work. We’ve been in this game since 2018 and don’t plan on going anywhere. Take direct action by donating to sustain the work we are doing to anchor a thriving public school ecosystem.
This ruling may not have changed our immediate reality, and together, we can ensure it doesn’t define our future.
