School Level Requests

There are needs throughout the school year that can not be planned for Durham Public Schools. Outside of our on-cycle grant funding, there is a limited amount of funding for requests throughout the year. These projects should still follow increasing equity, accessibility, resources, and opportunities within DPS schools. You can request up to $2,500 but most requests will be between $500-$1000. Here are ideas for what you can request:

Classroom Resources and Technology

Upgrading and equipping classrooms with modern technology, educational tools, and resources to create a dynamic and interactive learning environment. Things such as comfortable seating, fidget toys, platforms, equitable resources such as books, etc.

Enrichment Programs

Supporting extracurricular activities, arts, music, sports, and clubs that nurture students' talents, interests, and character development. Things such as a new student-led club, supplies for a student-led project, or travel expenses for field trips. The funded activity can take place in school or outside of school.

Professional Development

Providing opportunities for teachers and staff to participate in workshops, seminars, and training programs to enhance their skills and teaching methodologies. Things such as training costs, substitute teacher costs to cover time gone, materials like books for a new PLC, and costs for materials and food to support a whole school training.

Facilities Improvement

Assisting in renovations, repairs, and upgrades to ensure safe and comfortable learning spaces for students and educators.

Special Projects and Initiatives

Encouraging innovative educational projects and initiatives that promote creativity, critical thinking, and community engagement.
